Aims and objectives

This course has been carefully created to help you gain in-depth knowledge and understanding in all aspects of facials and eye treatments. Treatments include tinting lashes and brows, facial massage, chemicals and natural ingredients, skin analysis, hygiene and after care. Theory work will include the anatomy and physiology of the head, neck and shoulders, including muscles, bones, blood and nerve supply. ITEC qualifications are highly regarded and recognised in the beauty industry and you’ll be taught the skills expected at the most prestigious spas and salons.

Content

This qualification is for learners who want to work within the beauty therapy industry. The qualification consists of 4 mandatory units with a total of 129 hours of Guided Learning (GL) to achieve the full qualification.

The main skills the learner will perform are:

  • Care of the skin- to include consultation, skin analysis, cleansing, exfoliation, facial massage and the use of face masks.
  • Care of the eyebrows and eyelashes- to include shaping and lash/brow tinting.

Opportunities for progression

  1. Once learners have achieved the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Certificate in Skin & Eye Treatments they may progress on to other VTCT (ITEC) or equivalent qualifications at level 2 or 3 for example:

Assessment

All treatment evidence, assignments internal assessments, and underpinning knowledge must be completed prior to the final practical examination.

The final external practical examination will be carried out by the external examiner at the end of the period of learning. The external examiner will also verify a sample of the treatment evidence, assignments and internal assessment.
