Description:
Treatments for the purposes of relaxation stress release, slimming & weight loss. Course covers anatomy & Physiology, Swedish Body Massage, Figure Diagnosis & Body Electrical Treatments.

Aims:
To enable a candidate to perform safe and effective body therapy treatments.
To enable a candidate to gain employment as a body therapist.

Students of The Institute of Beauty will be able to:

    • Recognise body types and characteristics and take appropriate action in selecting or advising clients about treatments and aftercare
    • Adapt treatments to suit the individual client’s needs by analysing information gathered at consultation, including contra-indications
    • Perform safe, hygienic and effective body massage and electrical treatments to a commercially acceptable standard and timing
    • Select, use and advise clients about body care products
    • Understand basic anatomy and physiological systems of the body and the effects body treatments have on them
    • Understand the principles of Swedish massage techniques and their effects on the body
    • Understand the basic scientific principles underpinning electrical treatments and their effects on the body
    • Understand the importance of current legislation appertaining to beauty employment

Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology

Description:
The Anatomy & Physiology Diploma is the foundation upon which all other Complementary, Beauty & Sports Therapy awards are based. It provides a sound understanding of anatomy, physiology as well as a comprehensive knowledge of diseases & disorders of the human body so that all learners will be aware of when & when not to treat a client & only operate within certain parameters.

To enable candidates to achieve knowledge and understanding of Anatomy & Physiology of the human body.

  • Skin structure and function
  • Introduction to Nutrition

  • Cells/Tissues Digestive system

Diploma in Holistic Massage

Description:
The course covers holistic massage incorporating the classical movements treating the whole body.

Aims:
To enable students perform safe and effective Swedish body massage treatments
To enable a candidate to gain employment as a body therapist.

  • Consultation / Lifestyle Assessment

  • Identify lifestyle characteristics and take appropriate action in selecting or advising clients about treatments and aftercare

Diploma in Indian Head Massage

Description: This course covers the origin of massage as a way of keeping hair in peak condition and the specialized treatment techniques used now to soothe and ease tension on the head & scalp.

Unit 6: 50 Hours
Pre-Requisites:

Unit 30 - 40 : Anatomy & Physiology

ITEC

Level 3

Diploma in Reflexology

Description:
This studies the history & philosophy of the old therapy. The course covers the reflex zones & the related reflex areas as well as common disorders and ways in which to treat them.

Aims:
To enable graduates to provide treatments for the purpose of relaxation and stress release by treating the Reflex areas.

Students of The Institute of Beauty will study the following units towards this Diploma:

  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Reflexology
  • Professional conduct and Business Awareness
